Tour Scrapbook

February 16-22

Sunday, February 16

Crislynn turns 3 today!! We spent the day at Legoland along with grandparents (Nonie and D-Daddy), AnnNan, and Aunt 'Lissa and Uncle Barry. Crislynn had big eyes all day long! One of our favorite things was watching the older kids drive! Their roads had red lights, stop signs, and some crazy drivers (none of our kids!!) They did great. Brittlea rode her first rollercoaster. Alec rode ALL the rollercoasters. He's quite the daredevil!

Monday, February 17

On Monday, the Hilliards took Barry and Melissa to Hollywood, including the Kodak Theatre and their first In-N-Out Burgers! Then we all met back at Santa Monica Pier where all enjoyed the sunset on the ocean. We ate on the Third Street Promenade then headed back to our buses parked at LakeAve. Church.

Tuesday, February 18

Charles got up early to take Barry & Melissa to the Ontario Airport for their flight back to Texas. Then we all drove the short distance to Sierra Madre Congregational Church in Sierra Madreand met some wonderful ladies. Sharon had a really good talk with one of the mentor moms. After the meeting, we fixed our lunch then took it across the street to a park. It was great! A little cool, but good to all be together. We went back to the bus and had school then took naps. We stayed at Lake Ave. for one more night.

Wednesday, February 19

After leaving Lake Ave. we drove to Vineyard Christian in Yorba Linda and were greeted by Cheryl Jackson, part of the women's team and director of volunteers at Vineyard. She took lots of time with the girls…gave them lots of candy…so they were fast-friends! Sharon took Britt and Crislynn on a date to the church bookstore/coffee shop for hot chocolate. The Autrys went to Red Lobster then to the grocery store. You'll never believe who we ran into…no, not a movie star! Laurie! Weird! We do sort of wander together without meaning to. Laurie had gone to have her hair cut by a lady who heard us. Earlier in the day the Hilliards had bus work done at ABC Bus to repair a leaky air brake chamber and to get 2 new front tires. In the afternoon the Hilliards had homeschool at a local library.

Thursday, February 20

The next morning we shared with the MOPS group at Vineyard. They blessed us with a whole dish of chicken enchiladas (Sharon was very excited!!!) The pastor came out to meet and encourage us. What a neat guy!

Alec and Charles spotted some sports cars across the street and took some pix. Then we took our children to Celia Griffith's home for the afternoon and night. She offered to keep the kids for us…all of them, plus her two precious kids. The adults went to Johnny Reb's (a rib place…Charles was excited!) for a much needed meet and eat time. Afterwards, we all went to see a movie even though we were supposed to be on dates! The kids had a great time and were sad to leave Celia's. We left Vineyard late and made our way to Canyon Hills Church. Sharon passed an In-N-Out and couldn't resist. In-N-Out is about the only place that stays open past 10:00 in California! We can't believe how early the world closes here! Our pre-conceived ideas of "always open CA" were wrong! We parked at Canyon Hills and were thrilled to be in an industrial area away from houses. We would have no complaints about the buses' generators tonight!!

Friday, February 21

This was a fun day, not just because we were sharing with a great group of ladies at Canyon Hills MOPS, but also because our cousin, Lisa Young Hunkins and her friend, and Dee Cajiuat (a Hardin Simmons Alum) and friend came to the meeting. It was great to see all of them.

We left Canyon Hills and went to San Diego to the Chula Vista RV park. Pat went to register at the principal's convention and was able to see Buck Gilcrease, Barbara Roland, and Rendell Cole, staff from the Whitesboro Schools. The Hilliards went across the Coronado Bridge and enjoyed a little sight-seeing in San Diego.

Saturday, February 22

Pat went to the convention pretty early. Everybody else went swimming then walked to the end of the RV park for a picnic. They have great "swinging" picnic tables.

That night, the Autrys went to In-N-Out and used coupons a group had given. What a great gift!!
