Sunday,
January 26
Today was the Hilliard's day not to feel well, so we just
hung out at the RV park. The big kids swam with their dads
and then the Autrys parted ways to spend a few hours at
Disneyland. Meanwhile, the Hilliards had a tailgate party
on the bus and watched the Bucs plunder the Raiders in the
Super Bowl!
That night Laurie discovered red spots on Avery's throat.
After consulting (at 10:30 PM Houston time!) with Charles'
Uncle David, who is a pediatrician, we decided to take Av'
to a doctor in the morning. (Thanks David for the late-night
diagnosis!)
Monday, January 27
Laurie took Avery to a local doctor. And because Laurie
had already diagnosed the condition as strep throat and
had some sample Rxs, the doctor only charged a minimal office
visit! Praise the Lord again for taking care of us!
Later the Hilliards went to Disneyland to catch the new
Aladdin show and then came home at dark.
Tuesday, January 28
We headed back south to Mission Viejo to prepare for tomorrow's
MOPS group which Cindy Pook coordinates at Mission Viejo
Christian Church. She and her husband David then blessed
us again by keeping all of our kids so we could have a date
tonight!
Both of our families have commented how we are learning
what the gift of hospitality looks like from great role
models like the Pooks and Andersons and countless other
families we've met!
Wednesday, January 29
Another great MOPS group at MVCC thanks to Cindy's leadership!
And she even discovered a new gift this morning - being
a sound person - and overcame her fear of electronic buttons!
One lady shared with Laurie that she gained a new
perspective and motivation to not be so critical of her
kids.
From MV we moved on to Santa Ana/Tustin to Trinity Presbyterian
Church, where we were greeted at dinner time by several
MOPS ladies. As you can see from the photo, these ladies
wrote the handbook on home-cookin' and hospitality!
Thursday, January 30
They say leadership comes from the top-down. And after meeting
Trinity's senior pastor, Allen, we now know one influence
on the MOPS ladies' hospitality. He sought us out to inquire
about the ministry of 2MOMS and shared at least 20 minutes
of his time talking with Sharon and Charles!
Later in the evening we moved further south to Laguna Niguel...not
knowing what view we would awake to!
Friday,
January 31
We awoke at South Shores Church in Laguna Niguel to a breathtaking
view of the Pacific Ocean! It's neat to do home-school outside
at MOPS groups with a view like this!
After our MOPS group and a quick lunch, we all HIT TH'
BEACH!!!
The sheer size of our group attracts curiosity... and again
we were able to share with a neat family of 3 what our families
are doing on this tour.
Saturday, February 1
We left the beauty of the beach and splurged at an upscale
RV park in Newport Beach where we enjoyed the heated swimming
pool & hot-tub.... and a super Laundromat!
The Autrys kept our kids while we went out on a date to
eat Mexican seafood at a restaurant on the beach! Muchas
Gracias, Autrys!
